Same day appointment scheduled for Bugaboo at Adobe Animal Hospital with Dr. Boltz. Dr. Boltz expresses concerns that this could be fibrosarcoma and offers to remove the mass and send it to biopsy that afternoon. Bugaboo has surgery, and comes home alert and fiesty with an approximate 2 inch incision between her shoulder blades. She was prescribed Buprenex 0.1ml twice a day for pain as needed.

So I took Boo to the hospital. The doctor is concerned about the lump being sarcoma (cancer). So with my agreement Boo is going under general anesthesia and will have the lump and some surrounding tissue removed. The doctor said it is still small and seems to be insignificantly attached which are both good signs for the removal surgery. They'll biopsy the lump and we'll know for sure what we are dealing with at that point. While she's under they are doing to clean her teeth also. I asked to have the follow-up xray done from when she had bronchitis/asthma to determine what the cause was. The doctor had suggested it last time to determine if she actually had chronic asthma. Everything came out heathly on the xray so it appears it was just a bronchial infection which is good news. They noted she's gained .4 lbs since the infection which is believed to be related to the steroids she received as part of her treatment. Not too big of a deal. I can't praise Adobe Animal Hospital highly enough. The doctor is doing Boo's surgery during her lunch hour in an effort to get it done as soon as possible and was open and frank that cancer is a possibility but we'll know for sure once they do the biopsy. Boo goes in to surgery around 1pm and should be ready to go home around 3pm. I'm staying home from work because my mind and heart are with Boo right now and I want to be able to pick her up and be available should there be any complications. I'd do as much if it was any loved one of mine going in to surgery for something liket his. So for now I wait...

----
They just called that she's ready to come home. I'm bracing myself now because I know just seeing her shaved and stitched up is going to make me cry.

----
She's alert and a little fiesty. As soon as I let her out of her carrier she ran for the food dish which I had to promptly put out of reach. She's not supposed to have food for a little while because of the anesthesia. She then set about ripping the bandage off her arm where her IV was. I assisted her with that so she wouldn't eat it. The incision area looks neat and clean but it's not an insignificant incision in my opinion. She'll probably have a ~2 inch scar. I have pain relievers to give her for the next day or two. Right now she's just happy to be home and is wandering all over the house rubbing on things instead of hiding like I expected her to do. Fortunately at least the incision is in an area that doesn't seem to impact her mobility or anything and shouldn't impact her sleeping as long as she doesn't do that weird upside down thing cats do sometimes. As long as I can keep her from trying to clean it I think we'll be doing good. She's a very clean cat so I'm going to have to keep an eye on her. Lab results come back in 3-5 days for the biopsy. I was shaking so bad at the vet's that I dropped my keys and her medicine when they were trying to hand her over to me. I didn't cry though. The fact that she was alert and not all drugged out makes me feel better.

----
She's howling that she's "killed" a toy right now. Suffice today she's handling her surgery much better than I think most people would. We gave her her 'kitty morphine'. She didn't seem to be too drugged out on it. She is such a trooper.
